Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Lexiglu ("the App"), an English collocations dictionary developed and operated by Andrea Quadrelli ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the rights you have in relation to your data.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Account Data

When you register or sign in, we collect:

• Email address — when you sign in with Email or Google
• Display name — optionally provided when signing in with Apple (Apple ID)
• User identifier (UID) — a unique ID generated by Firebase Authentication for each account

We do not collect passwords directly. Password-based authentication is handled securely by Firebase Authentication (Google). If you sign in with Apple, Apple may anonymize your email address using its Private Relay service.

2.2 User-Generated Content

• Search queries — the English words you search within the App
• Favorite words — words you mark as favorites, which are synchronized to your account on our cloud database (Cloud Firestore)
• Recent search cache — the most recently searched words and their collocation data are stored locally on your device for instant access on repeat searches, without re-contacting the server. This data is never transmitted to our servers.
• Word entry cache — collocation entries generated by AI are stored anonymously on our shared server (Cloud Firestore) to improve performance for all users. These entries contain only linguistic data (definitions, collocations, examples) and are not linked to any user account or identifier.
• Issue reports — if you submit an issue report using the in-app form, your email address and the message you write are sent directly to us via email for content moderation purposes. This data is not stored in our database.

2.3 Usage Data

• Daily search count — the number of searches performed per day, synchronized with our cloud database (Cloud Firestore) to enforce usage limits and prevent abuse across reinstallations. A local copy is also maintained on your device for immediate access without network latency.

2.4 Subscription Data

If you subscribe to Lexiglu Pro, your purchase transaction is processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat, Inc., which processes your App Store subscriber ID and subscription status. We do not receive your payment card details.

2.5 Technical Data

We do not actively collect device identifiers, IP addresses, crash logs, or analytics. Firebase Authentication and Firestore may collect minimal technical metadata (such as timestamps and authentication tokens) as part of their standard operation.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

• Provide the service — authenticate your identity and serve word collocation data via our backend (Firebase Cloud Functions and Google Gemini AI)
• Sync your favorites — store and retrieve your saved words across devices
• Enforce usage limits — verify subscription status through RevenueCat to determine whether daily search quotas apply
• Communicate with you — respond to support or feedback requests sent to info@lexiglu.com

We do not use your data for targeted advertising, profiling, or any purpose not described in this policy.

4. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Firebase and Google Cloud services may process your data in data centers located in the European Union (our Cloud Functions run in the europe-west1 region) and potentially in the United States, subject to Google's standard contractual clauses and data transfer safeguards.

5. Data Retention

• Account data: retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your authentication record and your Firestore data (favorites) within 30 days.
• Search queries: not stored on our servers after processing. Search queries are transmitted to our backend (Firebase Cloud Functions and Google Gemini AI) solely to generate results and are discarded once the response is returned. They are not logged, linked to your identity, or retained for any other purpose.
• Local cache: word entries cached on your device are deleted automatically when you sign out of the App.
• Favorites: stored in Cloud Firestore until you delete them or delete your account.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Rectification: request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure: request deletion of your account and associated data
• Portability: request your data in a portable format
• Objection: object to processing in certain circumstances

Account Deletion: You may also delete your account directly within the App by navigating to Settings → Account Details → Delete Account.

7. Children's Privacy

Lexiglu is rated 12+ on the Apple App Store. Nevertheless, the App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at info@lexiglu.com and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

• Secure HTTPS connections for all data in transit
• Firebase Security Rules to restrict Firestore access to authenticated users only
• No storage of plaintext passwords

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password if you sign in with email.

9. Third-Party Links

The App displays links to third-party terms and policies in the About section (e.g., Firebase, Google). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
